Does a text have to be color coordinated to get a good grade? --> The short answer is NO. However, what does color coordinating a text imply? It shows me that there is a method to the annotations, it gives me directions for how to visually locate and process information, and it shows me that there was thought put in to what is organized in to which category. One could just as easily get a perfect mark if he or she used a pencil alone; however, there would need to be an explanation for how things are organized and how I should go about deciphering which CRO is being addressed and where. Do I need to generally annotate? --> Yes, but why? General annotation are a way for you as a reader to explore the text in your own terms. It is one thing to follow the directions of the close reading objectives, but it is a completely different skill to be able to generate unique and intriguing thoughts and ideas on your own. General annotations will give me lens through which to see how your mind processing a text. |
